About Oly Eats Food Tours

Olympia, Washington, is a vibrant city steeped with the iconic culture of the Pacific Northwest. With a plethora of sites to visit, natural parks to explore, and restaurants to enjoy, Olympia is a great city to live in or visit for folks of all types. The one thing that was missing from this colorful city was a way to sample many restaurants' cuisine in a convenient way - a food tour.
Founder Samantha Newbanks, who has been a guest on many of these types of tours around the globe, knew she could provide a great tour for visitors and local Olympians to experience what the city she loves had to offer - great food, culture, and history. Oly Eats Food Tours has begun with a small part of Downtown Olympia and plans to add on more tours soon. We are also pleased to be able to offer private tours with the ability to customize your tour or have your tour in another language for your group.

Samantha Newbanks

Founder & Head Tour Guide


Samantha is the founder and head tour guide of Oly Eats Food Tours. Since childhood, she has always loved traveling and experiencing new places through their cuisine.  Samantha comes from a family of foodies. She was surrounded by inspiration during family dinners, holiday events, and on vacation.  Even before food tours were as popular as they are today, the family always took a food tour while traveling.

In her education, Samantha got her start in tourism while obtaining a cultural studies degree from The Evergreen State College. Also, she has experience as an instructor of the children’s cooking classes at the Bayview School of Cooking.  Samantha strives to bring food, history, and culture to life in a one-of-a-kind culinary experience!

Great Food and Great Company

Whether a large meal for a crowd or a small dinner for a night in, Samantha enjoys cooking and trying new flavors. She looks forward to sharing this love of food with her guests on the tours.

Samantha is a graduate of the Food Tour Pros training program and a member of the Global Food Tourism Association.
